(GREENE CO.) - The Indiana Department of Transportation announces two projects coming up for US 231 and State Road 54 in Bloomfield.
Beginning on Sunday, August 6th, depending upon weather conditions, contractors will close the east intersection of US 231 and State Road 54 in Bloomfield for a utility culvert relocation and tree felling operation. This project will take place on the east side of the Greene County Courthouse and will widen the pavement area in an effort to give larger traffic more room to safely maneuver. Crews have 24 hours to complete this operation. The road will close at 12 a.m. on that day and is expected to reopen by midnight. The official detour for this closure uses I-69, US 231, State Road 45, State Road 54 and State Road 157.
Then, on Monday, Aug. 14, contractors will close US 231 from the west edge of Bloomfield to the White River Bridge for a pavement rehabilitation and replacement project. This project will restrict one lane around the clock and traffic will be controlled by temporary signals. Depending upon weather conditions, this project is scheduled to wrap up in mid to late September.
INDOT urges drivers to slow down and stay alert near crews.
