Gov. Holcomb's Statement On Securing Health Insurance Options On Federal Marketplace For Four Counties

Last updated on Thursday, August 17, 2017

(INDIANAPOLIS) - Tuesday, two health insurance providers - CareSource and Managed Health Services (MHS) - notified Governor Eric J. Holcomb’s office and the Indiana Department of Insurance that they plan to expand their offering on the federal health care marketplace and, between the two of them, provide options for Decatur, Jackson, Grant and Wayne counties.

These four counties were previously at risk of having no provider options on the federal marketplace beginning in 2018 after Anthem and MDwise announced plans to pull out of the state's Obamacare marketplace.

"I commend CareSource and MHS for stepping forward to ensure that these four counties will have options for Hoosiers seeking a health insurance provider on the federal marketplace," Gov. Holcomb says. "This is a prime example demonstrating the way states like Indiana are better positioned than the federal government to solve problems and meet citizens' health care needs."
