Garrison Crowned 2018 Distinguished Young Woman

(BEDFORD) - McKenna Garrison was crowned the 2018 Distinguished Young Woman Saturday night at Bedford North Lawrence High School's Performing Arts Center.

Garrison, a senior at Bedford North Lawrence High School, plans to become a nurse. She is the daughter of Rusty Garrison and Amy Jeffries.

She was picked out of 14 others competing for the award.

Garrison also earned the Distinguished Young Woman Spirit Award.

First runner was Sydney Higgins. Second runner up was Molly Patton, both BNL students.

The winners in all the categories were:

  • Creative: Sydney Higgins and McKenna Garrison.
  • Fitness: Kaylee Rynders and McKenna Garrison.
  • Interview: Molly Patton and Sydney Higgins.
  • Scholastic: Karoline West and Shelby Fletcher.
  • Self expression: Kaylee Rynders and McKenna Garrison.

A total of $5,450 in college scholarships were awarded.
