(BLOOMINGTON) - Hoosier Hills Food Bank staff and volunteers will hand out 50-pound bags of fresh produce during "Farm Fresh Friday."

The giveaway kicks off September's Hunger Action Month and highlights a new partnership with Growing Opportunities, a South Central Community Action Program in partnership with Stone Belt made possible by a $29,000 State Giving Program grant from the Walmart Foundation.

Farm Fresh Friday will take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. this Friday. Anyone in need is welcome to come receive a free package of fresh produce at the food bank's warehouse located at 2333 W. Industrial Park Drive.

Packages will include a 10-pound sack of potatoes; 5-pound sacks of apples and pears; cabbage and lettuce grown locally by Growing Opportunities; a watermelon; tomatoes; and peppers picked at Harriman Farms in Spencer. The rest of the produce was obtained through the Gleaners Food Bank Regional Produce Mixing Center in Indianapolis and from Feeding America donors.

Produce not handed out Friday will be distributed to area partners on Monday.

Those unable to make it out to the food bank Friday can receive fresh produce noon-6 p.m. Monday through Friday at Mother Hubbard's Cupboard, 1100 W. Allen Street.
