Daviess County Museum Looking For Volunteers, Not Taking Donations For Now

Last updated on Thursday, August 24, 2017

(WASHINGTON) - The Daviess County Museum is not taking any more donations of artifacts, until they can catch up on logging the ones they have.

Its not that they don't want the donations, the museum is in need of more volunteers. If you have something to donate, you'll have to wait until February.

So many items have been donated over the last several months volunteers are unable to keep up with the cataloging process.

The Washington Times reports that donations started increasing a year ago. That's when the Museum re-opened after being closed for six months for renovations.

Since December last year, officials say 1600 items have been cataloged. Nearly 400 need to be put into the system currently.

For information on how you can volunteer call (812) 257-0301.
