Bloomington Troopers Capture Felon Wanted In Three States

Last updated on Monday, August 14, 2017

(ELLETTSVILLE) - Friday just after 1:30 p.m., members of the ISP Bloomington Aggressive Criminal Enforcement Section arrested a known violent felon who was wanted on criminal warrants through multiple states.

Troopers arrested 42-year-old Seth D. Waskom of Switz City on a warrant in Shawnee County, Kansas for a probation violation of felony theft; a warrant from Kansas Department of Corrections for a felony parole violation of forgery and criminal use of a financial credit card; a Massachusetts warrant for felony larceny; a Hamilton County, Indiana warrant for felony theft and larceny and a Greene County, Indiana warrant for criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon and resisting arrest and criminal mischief.

During the afternoon of August 11th, Troopers Richard Klun and Zachary Parker were given information on Waskom's whereabouts from a detective with the Indiana State Police. The plain clothes detective observed Waskom at a gas station in Ellettsville, followed Waskom in an unmarked ISP car and gave directions to the nearby officers in order to take Waskom into custody.

While Waskom was traveling eastbound on State Road 46, Troopers Klun and Parker were driving westbound on State Road 46 with their emergency lights activated. As the troopers approached the Waskom's oncoming vehicle, several other vehicles were pulling over and yielding to the emergency vehicles. Like the other vehicles in the area, Waskom, who was unaware that he was being followed by an ISP detective, pulled his vehicle over to the side as well.

When Trooper Klun observed Waskom's vehicle pulling over, he pulled into the path of Waskom's stopped vehicle. Troopers had known information that Waskom had fled from law enforcement on multiple occasions in the past and as Trooper Klun began an attempt to block Waskom in, Waskom suddenly accelerated forward and rammed Trooper Klun, disabling his patrol car.

Waskom continued off road and drove around a building where he struck a parked car. Waskom then attempted to flee westbound on State Road 46, however his vehicle became disabled from the two collisions. Waskom exited his vehicle and fled on foot. Waskom was taken into custody after a short foot pursuit.

While officers were taking Waskom into custody, a female passenger, 37- year-old Kellie Elene Ann McKallagat, of Kansas, in Waskom's vehicle attempted to flee from the scene. She was also apprehended and taken into custody.

During the arrests, both suspects were found to be in possession of a handgun as well as meth, hypodermic syringes, and drug paraphernalia.

The vehicle that Waskom was driving had been reported stolen out of Vigo County, Indiana.

Both Waskom and McKallagat were arrested and transported to the Monroe County Jail on the charges below.
