9/11 Remembrance Ceremony At Ivy Tech

(BLOOMINGTON) - Ivy Tech Community College’s Bloomington campus will host a 9/11 remembrance event on Monday, September 11, 2017 at 9 a.m., in coordination with the City of Bloomington and Bloomington Metropolitan Firefighters Union Local 586.

The public is invited to attend.

Bloomington's beam from the structure of the World Trade Center is permanently on display at Ivy Tech.

Union President Robert Loviscek, of the Fire Fighters Union, who traveled to New York City to pick up Bloomington's beam from the structure of the World Trade Center will make opening remarks. Mayor John Hamilton will also make remarks, as well as The City director of economic & sustainable development, Alex Crowley, who was in NYC during the attacks.

The rifle salute will be carried out by Monroe County Law Enforcement Joint Honor Guard Rifle Team and the playing of TAPS will be performed by Jeffery Parker of Bloomington North High School Band.

The 9/11 remembrance event will take place in front of Ivy Tech's Cook Pavilion entrance on the northwest side of the building, located at 200 Daniels Way on the west side of Bloomington.
