Three Plead Not Guilty To Drug Charges

(MITCHELL) - Three people who were arrested on drug charges after a traffic stop on State Road 37 last week, entered pleas of not guilty.

Sara G. Gilstrap, 33, Oolitic, was charged with possession of meth, unlawful possession of a syringe, possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and visiting a common nuisance.

Jennifer Willis, 25, Mitchell, was charged with possession of meth and maintaining a common nuisance.

Nicholas Street, 27, Mitchell, was charged with possession of meth and visiting a common nuisance.

According to police reports, a Mitchell police officer pulled over a vehicle around 5:50 p.m. on Tuesday on State Road 37 after noticing the vehicle had an expired license plate.

The car was being driven by Willis, but is owned by Street.

A Bedford Police Department K-9 was brought to the scene and alerted police to possible drugs inside the vehicle.

Inside the vehicle police found a spoon that tested positive for meth residue. Inside Willis' purse police found a baggie that contained meth residue.

All three were arrested.

Once at the jail, while officers were taking Gilstrap out of the vehicle and an orange cap from a syringe fell out of her clothing. During a search of her person police found a needle, a baggie of meth, a baggie of Suboxone, some cotton, a spoon and a tourniquet.

On Thursday, Gilstrap appeared in court via video and entered a preliminary plea of not guilty. She was appointed a public defender. She is being held without bond after being arrested on June 19th on a theft charge and June 12 on drug charges. The state has filed a petition to revoke charge in the theft case and a motion to revoke bond on the drug case where she was charged with possession of a narcotic drug, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia

Street and Willis appeared in court on Thursday via video and both entered a plea of not guilty and were appointed a public defender. Both are being held on a $7500 surety or $750 cash bond.

Street was arrested July 6th on charges of possession of meth, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and maintaining a common nuisance.
