(MIDLAND) - Indiana Conservation Officers responded to a UTV crash involving injuries to the driver and both passengers in Midland.
At about 9 p.m. Tuesday, 28-year-old Jesse Hill drove off the roadway and struck a wooden electrical pole at a high-rate of speed.
Hill was hospitalized with fractured ribs and complaining of chest pain. Police say 25-year-old Sarah Bozeman was propelled through the windshield during the crash which broke her right arm.
A 2-year-old girl was also in the vehicle and received a minor head contusion.
The investigation is ongoing and it is currently believed that prescription medication use may have been a factor in the crash.
Indiana Conservation Officers had responded to an additional UTV crash around 10 p.m. on Monday in Vigo County. Two teenagers were driving in a field when the vehicle rolled over.
One of the teenagers was hospitalized with a severe leg laceration.
No helmets were in use at the time of either crash.
Indiana Conservation Officers highly encourage safe riding behavior and the use of safety equipment.
On July 1st a new law came into effect requiring all off road vehicle users under the age of 18 to wear a DOT approved helmet while driving or riding.
