Lawrence County Community Foundation Announces Grant Recipients Of 2017 Open Grant Cycle

(BEDFORD) - The Lawrence County Community Foundation Board of Directors awarded grants to twenty-seven local agencies who submitted proposals for the 2017 Open Grant Cycle.

Programs that impact addiction were a grant cycle priority.

Funding for the annual grant application process was provided by the following endowment funds: LCCF Unrestricted Fund, David Allen Jacobs Community Fund, William A. Poling Fund for Lawrence County, German American Bancorp Community Fund, Patrick and Sharon Robbins Funds for Lawrence County, Earlyn K. and Alvera Burkhart Hill, and Orlin and Imogene Burkett Memorial Fund, Bicentennial Fund, Wilbur C. Dollens Fund, Bob Bridge Fund, Chloral Hilderbrand Community Grants Fund, Ralph W. "Shorty" & Bette R. Robison Fund, Smithville Charitable Foundation Fund, LCCF Education Fund, Morris D. Norman Fund, M. Jeanette Norman Fund, Harold "Mac" & Shirley McReynolds Fund, Freeda and Opal Casada Fund for Elderly, and the Betty R. Hilderbrand Parks & Recreation Funds.

Grants from the Community Foundation's unrestricted funds now total $746,732 of which $54,207 was distributed at a reception Thursday. An additional $4,875 was awarded as a challenge grant which provides matching funds, helping organizations gain awareness and raise funds for their mission.

Dennis Turner chaired the LCCF Grants Committee this year.

"The grants committee spent many hours reviewing over forty worthy applications and did an outstanding job making recommendations to the LCCF Board," he says. "It was a joy to work with the committee."
