IU Football Player Arrested During Concert At Klipsch Music Center

(NOBLESVILLE) - An Indiana University football player was arrested during a Jason Aldean concert at Klipsch Music Center in Noblesville over the weekend.

According to Hamilton County Jail records, 21-year-old Simmie Cobbs was arrested on charges of refusal to identify himself and resisting law enforcement. He is being held in the Hamilton County Jail

According to a Hamilton County Sheriff's Department press release, around 9 p.m. Klipsch security officers brought Cobbs, a redshirt junior wide receiver, to the security office in the music center Saturday night for "not complying with security personnel attempting to clear aisles during the concert."

Officers say he was confrontational, and her refused to take a breathalyzer test for alcohol or provide identification, which resulted in his arrest. He was taken to jail. He was charges with resisting law enforcement incident shortly before 12:30 p.m. Sunday.

According to jail records Cobbs was released around 4 p.m. Sunday after a pre-trial screening assessment. Sunday. A trail date has not been scheduled.

The IU athletics department released this statement on the incident:

"Indiana University Athletics and the IU football program are aware of the arrest of redshirt junior Simmie Cobbs Jr. We will continue to gather facts, monitor the legal process and take action as the evolving situation warrants."

Cobbs, who ranked eighth in the Big Ten in receptions and third in touchdowns in the 2015 season, was one of six players suspended for Indiana's season opener last year against Florida International University for "not living up to their responsibilities to the program at different times since the 2015 season." No further explanation for the suspension was given.

He missed the remainder of he year after suffering a season-ending ankle injury.

IU opens its 2017 football schedule with Ohio State in Bloomington on August 31.
