Last updated on Monday, July 31, 2017

(JASONVILLE) - A fire destroyed a mobile home of a Jasonville woman on Friday afternoon.

When Jasonville Fire Department arrived at the home at 325 Southeast Washington Street they found fire inside the kitchen area.

Assistant Chief Mike Duckworth says firefighters were able to extinguish the fire quickly but not before it destroyed the inside of the older mobile home and the belongings of 53-year-old Barbara Harris.

She was inside the home when the fire started. Firefighters say the family was outside when they saw smoke coming from the home and alerted firefighters.

The American Red Cross called to assist Harris, who does not have insurance.

Wright Township Fire Department, Greene County Ambulance Service and Jasonville Police Department assisted at the scene.
