Crowning Of 2017 Lawrence County Fair Queen Scheduled For Friday

(BEDFORD) - The Lawrence County Fair kicks off Friday with the crowning of the 2017 Lawrence County Fair queen and her princess.

The event will be held at the Fairgrounds Expo Hall at 7 p.m. Admission is $3.

The 2016 Queen, Mary Ellen Spreen will pass on the crown to one of the six young ladies.

Spreen, who is the daughter of Bill and Kristi Spreen of Williams, was also a finalist in the 2016 Indiana State Fair queen contest.

Queen contestants:

  • Lian Dodds, 18, of Norman, is the daughter of Tammy Dodds.
  • Sidney Faubion, 19, of Heltonville, is the daughter of Jay and Lori Faubion.
  • Kara Jones, 19, Bedford, is the daughter of Kimberly and Kevin Jones.
  • Kara Parkes, 18,of Mitchell, is the daughter of Kim and Kenny Parkes.
  • Baili Peterson, 18, of Bedford, is the daughter of John and Terri Peterson.
  • Kelsey Walton, 20, of Bedford, is the daughter of Lydia and Jim Mosier and Travis Walton.

The following are competing for the title of Lawrence County Fair Princess:

Grace Fulkerson, 17, of Bedford, is the daughter of B.J. and Christa Fulkerson.
Autumn Greer, 17, of Mitchell, is the daughter of Kevin and Gail Greer.
Sapphire Deckard, 15,of Heltonville, is the daughter of Sara Wessel, Michael and Rachel Deckard.
Trenady Shaw, 15, of Bedford, is the daughter of Mariah Shaw Todd and TJ Todd.
Kaity Woods, 14, of Springville, is the daughter of Kimberly Woods and Seane Woods.

The 2017 Lawrence County Fair Schedule:

There is a $5 parking fee after 4 p.m. Weekly pass $15

  • Laser Tag July 17- 22 only $2
  • Free entertainment nightly
  • No over night stays on fairgrounds
  • No alcohol on fairgrounds

Friday, July 15:

  • 7 p.m. Queen Contest

Saturday, July 15:

  • 5 a.m. - Noon All livestock check in (no arrivals after 12:00)
  • 1 p.m.Fair opening ceremony
  • 2 p.m - .Fashion Revue, Expo Hall
  • 4 p.m. - 4-H dog obedience
  • 6 p.m.- 4-H Horse & Pony Contesting
  • Color Run

Sunday, July 16:

  • 8 a.m. - Church service (tent)
  • 9 a.m. - Horse and Pony mini & halter classes
  • 1 p.m. - 4-H dog agility
  • 5 p.m. - Expo Hall Family Arts open
  • 6 p.m. - Horse & Pony Versatility classes
  • 6 p.m. - Exhibit Hall Awards Ceremony in Park Tent
  • 7 p.m. - Kiddie & Adult Tractor Pull
  • 7 p.m. - Broken Horn Rodeo, Adults $10, Kids 12 and Under $5

Monday, July 17

  • 9 a.m.- 4-H Horse and Pony Western pleasure
  • 9 a.m. - 4-H Market Beef Show
  • Noon - Mini Dairy & Dairy Steers
  • 4 p.m. - Boer Goats
  • 5 p.m. - Expo Hall opens & Family Arts open
  • 5 p.m. - Midway opens, Armbands $25
  • 6 p.m. - Baby Contest park tent (0-4)
  • 7 p.m. - Quad Races, Adults $8, $5 ages 7-12, 6 and under free

Tuesday, July 18 Kids Day

  • 9 a.m. - Horse & Pony English
  • 10 a.m. - Games & Bicycle Rodeo
  • 11 a.m. - Laser Tag
  • Noon - Dairy Heifers
  • 1 p.m., 6 p.m. & 7:30 p.m. - Silly Safari (tent)
  • 1 p.m. - 4 p.m.-Midway open, $10 armbands
  • 3 p.m. - Pet parade show arena - Kids 2 Grade & under
  • 4 p.m. - 4-H Sheep show
  • 5 p.m. - Expo Hall Family Arts open
  • 5 p.m. Midway open
  • 7 p.m. - Quad Races, track
  • 7 p.m. - Flat Track Cycles, $8 adults, $5 ages 7-12, 6 & under free
Wednesday, July 19
  • 9 a.m. - Poultry Show
  • Noon - Beef Show
  • 5 p.m. - 5 p.m. Expo Hall and Family Arts Center open
  • 5 p.m. Mid-way opens (Buddy Night 2 for $20)
  • 8 p.m. Pig Wrestling, registration $45 a team - pre-registration; to view - $5 for adults, $2 ages 7-12, 6 & under free

Thursday, July 20

  • 9 a.m. Dairy & Pygmy Goat Show
  • 4 p.m. Swine Show
  • 5 p.m. Expo Hall & Family Arts open
  • 5 p.m. Midway open, Family Night, armbands $15
  • 8 p.m. Farm Olympics $5 adults, $2 ages 7-12, 6 & under fee pre-registration

Friday, July 21

  • 9 a.m. - 4-H Cat Show (tent)
  • 9 a.m. - Rabbit Show
  • 4 p.m. - Round Robin
  • 5 p.m. - Expo Hall & Family Arts open
  • 5 p.m. - Midway open
  • 8 p.m. - Cody Ikerd & Sidewinders (tent)

Saturday, July 22

  • Carload Night $25 / up to 5 people
  • 2 p.m. - 4-H Livestock Auction
  • 3 p.m. - Expo Hall & Family Arts open
  • 7 p.m. Demolition Derby
  • 11 p.m. - All non auction animals released (NO early release this year)
