Crane Naval Surface Welfare Center To Hold Change Of Command Thursday

(CRANE) - The leadership of Crane Division, Naval Surface Warfare Center will be formally and traditionally transferred during a Change of Command Ceremony today at 10:30 a.m.

Captain Mark Oesterreich, USN, will accept leadership of NSWC Crane Command from Captain Jeffrey Elder, USN who is retiring from military service after 28 years in the Navy.

Notable guests in attendance will be Lt. Governor of Indiana Suzanne Crouch. Guests speakers include Ms. Becky Skillman, chair of the board of directors for Radius Indiana and former Lt. Governor of Indiana; and Rear Adm. Johnny Wolfe, program executive for Aegis Ballistic Missile Defense, Dahlgren, Virginia.

NSWC Crane is the largest tenant command located on Naval Support Activity Crane (NSA Crane) with approximately 3200 civilian employees. NSWC Crane is one of the largest employers in southwestern Indiana putting over $2M a day into the Indiana economy. NSWC Crane is a naval laboratory and a field activity of Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) with focus areas in Strategic Missions, Expeditionary Warfare and Electronic Warfare.
