(BLOOMINGTON) - Bloomington Fire Department firefighters extinguished a fire that began in a kitchen of a townhouse Tuesday night.

Firefighters responded to the townhouse at 11:13 p.m. in the 300 block of West Riley Drive.

According to Bloomington Fire Department Sgt. Brandon Hudson, four Indiana University students lived in the home and one was cooking food on the stove.

He says it is unclear if the person stepped away from the stove or if the flame became out of control, but black smoke filled the kitchen.
