(BEDFORD) - Two people were injured in a three-vehicle crash on US 50 at State Road 446 on Wednesday afternoon.

According to a Lawrence County Police report, a black Buick LaSabre was traveling west on US 50 in Jackson County with their flashers on and traveling at excess of 90 miles per hour. The driver had dropped off VA paperwork and a bottle of pills at a gas station. A witness, a reserved officer with the Crothersville Police Department, contacted Jackson County Police and said that the driver was passing on the double yellow line and stated that the vehicle was at US 50 and State Road 446.

Lawrence County Police say 43-year-old Randy Stollings of Scottsburg was traveling west on US 50 in a 2003 Buick Century.

At the same time, 47-year-old Michael Timberlake of Brownstown was traveling west on US 50 in a 2001 General Motors Sierra and 18-year-old Denesha Hayden was traveling behind him in a 2016 Chevrolet Cruz.

Timberlake was slowing to make a left turn into the Farmer's Market parking lot and Hayden also had slowed to a stop allowing him to make that turn.

Stollings' Buick struck the rear of Hayden's car in the rear. The collision forced her car into the rear of Timberlake's vehicle. When the collision happened police say Stollings was traveling at excess of 130 miles per hour.

Police say Stollings had just been released from St. Vincent Salem Hospital. He told police he had not slept in more than 2000 years and was on all types of medication.

Police say Stollings was suffering from mental issues.

Stollings suffered a broken ankle and was flown by medical helicopter to a Louisville Hospital for treatment.

Denesha suffered minor scrapes and cuts on face and right leg. She was taken by a private vehicle to a local hospital for treatment.

Timberlake refused medical treatment at the scene.
