Last updated on Thursday, June 8, 2017

(BROWNSTOWN) - A Seymour man was arrested after he ran from police during a traffic stop Monday morning.

Brownstown officers arrested 21-year-old Lakota Snyder on charges of possession of meth, resisting law enforcement and for a parole violation.

The incident began in a parking lot in the 100 block of West Commerce Street just before 10 a.m. when Brownstown Police Sgt. Joe Kelly stopped Snyder who was on a moped.

After a brief encounter, Snyder fled on foot. During the pursuit, Sgt. Kelly deployed his stun gun striking Snyder, but it was ineffective.

Chief Tom Hanner arrived on scene and joined in the foot pursuit, which continued east across Main Street and crossed South Sugar Street before ending in the backyard of a residence in the 200 block of East Tanner Street.

While searching Snyder's pockets, police found meth.

Snyder was taken to the Jackson County Jail in Brownstown where he is being held without bond.
