Owensburg Man Accused Of Stealing Car And Then Selling It

(GREENE CO.) - An Owensburg man was arrested after he allegedly stole a vehicle and then sold it.

According to a Greene County Sheriff's Department report, 23-year-old Ronald Hughes, Jr. is accused of stealing vehicles from his neighbor and selling them.

Officers were able to recover a car and a bill of sale that Hughes had provided the buyer. The name listed as the seller on the bill of sale was "Roger Martin."

Police were able to provide the buyer with a photo lineup and he was able to identify Hughes at "Roger Martin".

Police say Hughes has a history of selling vehicles without titles and defrauding buyers, including one case where he appeared under the name of "Roger Doane" and never produced a vehicle.

Hughes is facing charges of auto theft, a Level 6 felony, synthetic deception, a Level 6 felony and deception, a Class A misdemeanor.
