Oolitic Man Arrested After Police Find Syringe Loaded With Meth

(OOLITIC) - An Oolitic man was arrested after police stopped his vehicle for a traffic violation and found a syringe filled with meth on the front passenger seat.

According to Lawrence County Chief Deputy Aaron Shoults police stopped a white Oldsmobile driven by 40-year-old Jeffrey Stewart at 6:08 p.m. on Main Street and Hoosier Avenue in Oolitic.

During the traffic stop police learned Stewart was driving with a suspended driver's license.

In the front passenger seat police saw a bag containing syringes.

"One of the syringes was loaded and subsequently field tested positive for meth," says Chief Deputy Shoults. "Also found was a clear glass smoking device with residue that field tested positive for marijuana, a glass smoking device that field tested positive for meth residue.

Stewart was arrested and booked into the Lawrence County Jail on charges of driving while his driver's license was suspended, possession of meth, unlawful possession of a syringe, maintaining a common nuisance, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
