(BEDFORD) - The Bedford Fire Department evacuated homes in the 2300 block of I Street after a report of a busted gas line.

Firefighters responded to the homes on I Street between 23rd and 24th Street at 2:44 p.m.

"We evacuated eight to 10 homes in the area of the gas leak," says Battalion Chief John Hughes. "We were being extra precautious. Residents were out of their home less than an hour while the leak was repaired."

According to the Bedford Police log, a resident in the neighborhood called 911 to report the leak.
