(LINTON) - A Linton man was arrested Saturday after he battered a woman in front of an infant and then fought with police.
37-year-old Thomas Hatcher is facing charges of domestic battery charges in the presence of a child, a Level 6 felony, two counts battery against a public safety official, both as Level 6 felonies and resisting law enforcement, a Class A misdemeanor. He was held on a $13,000 bond with 10 percent allowed.
Police were called to Hatcher's home on June 10th after a report of a domestic fight.
When police arrived they found Hatcher outside and the victim inside, but Hatcher refused to let the officer in the home to speak to the victim.
Police ordered Hatcher to stay outside and entered the home. The female was found in a back room on the phone with a 911 dispatcher.
The woman told police Hatcher was angry because his phone was not working and she had been attempting to help him. Hatcher became more angry so she gave him his phone back hitting Hatcher in the arm and went to take a bath.
The woman says Hatcher began calling her names and then jumped on the bed and began hitting her in the face. An infant was reportedly in the room.
The woman told police, Hatcher then pushed her off the bed and when she attempted to call police he grabbed her phone and attempted to break it. He then shoved the woman into a portable Pack 'n Play.
The woman says Hatcher then began hitting himself in the face saying he would put her in jail.
Police say the woman's face was red and she had been crying when they arrived. She stated her head and back was hurting.
Hatcher told police he didn't hit the woman, but she had hit herself. He did state that he had pushed her because she was attacking him.
Police told Hatcher he was under arrest and to put his hands behind his back. He then began emptying his pocket making police believe he was going to be combative. He then picked up his cell phone and began making a call.
An officer grabbed Hatcher to restrain him and Hatcher resisted. Another officer used his Taser and attempted to subdue Hatcher. Police say the Taser was ineffective and he continued to fight with officers.
Police again Tased Hatcher. Upon getting Hatcher to the ground, Hatcher grabbed one of the officer by his uniform shirt and when he tried to put Hatcher's hands behind his back.
Again police Tased Hatcher. He let go of the officer and attempted to grab the Taser. After a short struggle officers were able to handcuff Hatcher.
He was then transported to the Greene County Jail without further incident.
