Last updated on Wednesday, June 7, 2017

(BEDFORD) - The Limestone Heritage Festival will take place on Friday June 30th and Saturday July 1st.

Bedford Revitalization Inc. is the event coordinator for the festival and have released an event schedule for the featured attractions this year.

Attractions include the 8th Annual BBQ at the Quarry Competition, where teams compete in the four main categories of Chicken, Pork Ribs, Pork Butt & Brisket.

Spectators will have an opportunity to sample competition on Saturday after 1pm. Sample tickets will be for sale and those purchasing tickets can also vote for People's Choice on the Pork Butt category.

A variety of food vendors will be set up along J Street on the downtown square from 11am to 11pm both days.

Live music will be featured in the evenings with Denson Avenue and the Summertime Band performing Friday evening and Soul Street performing after the Limestone Heritage Festival Parade on Saturday evening.

The parade has a new day and time this year, scheduled for Saturday July 1st at 6pm.

"The idea is to bring the many attractions of the Limestone Heritage Festival together, into one fun filled weekend for our community" states Sarah Reinhard who serves on the BRI Board of Directors.

"We received a lot of positive feedback last year on how people enjoyed the fireworks display being on a Saturday. We had to make some last minute changes due to weather forecast last year and the combination of BBQ at the Quarry with the fireworks show at the end of the evening was a perfect pairing."
