(BEDFORD) - Lawrence County Coroner Rob Herr was presented the Crowners Award during the Indiana Coroners Association Conference June 1-3 at the Sheraton Hotel and Suites in Indianapolis.

The ICA is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to support the coroners of Indiana through education and training, providing resources to assist in death investigations, developing strategies to prevent loss of life, and rendering support to county coroners when requested to aid in the timely resolution of death investigators.

The annual award goes to the coroner who exhibits outstanding ability and service to the people he or she has been elected to service.

Herr, a Bedford police officer, served as John Sherrill's assistant before his election as coroner in 2012.
