Hoosier Uplands Gives Scholarships To Local Graduates

(UNDATED) - This year marks the 25th year that Hoosier Uplands has given scholarships to local graduating high school seniors from Crawford, Lawrence, Martin, Orange and Washington counties.

"One $1,400 scholarship is awarded to a graduating senior for each of the 11 high schools in the five counties we service," says Ginger Knight, Director of Administrative Services/Coordinator of Hoosier Uplands Scholarship Program.

This year 11 scholarships have been awarded bringing the total of scholarships since 1993 to 209 with a total of $279,850 awarded.

The students were recognized Sunday at a reception at the Hoosier Uplands Board of Directors meeting.

Winning Hoosier Uplands scholarships for 2017 are:

Crawford County

Abigal Pierson, of Crawford County High School

Lawrence County

Rainen Harper, of Bedford North Lawrence High School
Chloe Cox, of Mitchell High School

Martin County

Abby Barker, of Loogootee High School
Kenady Bratton, of Shoals High School

Orange County

Caitlin Rutherford, of Orleans High School
Leitha Levi, of Paoli High School
Kaitlynn Crane, of Springs Valley High School

Washington County

Patrick Parrish, of Eastern High School
Haley Gross, of Salem High School
Taylor Garrison, of West Washington High School
