Grief Counseling Offered At West Washington High School After Student's Murder

Last updated on Wednesday, June 7, 2017

(CAMPBELLSBURG) - 14-year-old Austin Newlin, who was murdered on Sunday, would have entered his freshmen year at West Washington High School this summer.

He was murdered in his home along with his parents, Kelly and Danny Newlin.

According to the high school's Facebook page, "Austin was a goofy 14 year old boy, much like many of our boys. He has been robbed of his childhood and adulthood due to something senseless. I was proud to see Austin becoming more active in school, joining the football team and making more friends.

"As a school and community we are heartbroken. Please pray for all of those grappling with this loss and the safety of our children in the future."

West Washington School Corporation will offer grief counseling to anyone from the community that needs it.

There will be counselors available on Thursday and Friday from 8 a.m. to noon in the high school. Call the school at (812) 755-4872 to schedule a time or come in as needed.
