Bloomfield Jr./Sr. High School Named Champions Together Banner School

(BLOOMFIELD) - Bloomfield Jr./Sr. High School Principal David Dean announced the school has been named by the Indiana High School Athletic Association (IHSAA) as a Champions Together banner school.

In partnership with Special Olympics Indiana, Bloomfield Jr/Sr. High School is the second school in Greene County to attain the designation. The first was White River Valley High School.

Champions Together is a partnership between IHSAA and Special Olympics Indiana.

Participating schools must meet four requirements to be awarded the banner status:

  • The formation of an inclusive student leadership which will plan

  • Organize and administer activities with students with disabilities, and not for them; an activity must be designed to attain Whole School Engagement, such as a school-wide assembly or project; the organization of and participation in a Unified Sports activity, such as a IHSAA Unified Track and Field event or any event which includes students with intellectual disabilities

  • The school must be willing to raising a minimum of $1500 for the Champions Together project.

According to Unified Track Team coach David Dean the school will hold a banner presentation ceremony in December at one of its first home basketball games.
