Barn Owl Pair Hatched Six Owlets Who Are Now Ready For Flight

Last updated on Friday, June 2, 2017

(UNDATED) - A barn owl pair in southern Indiana hatched six owlets this year, and all are now fledging and ready for flight. You can still view the owlets throughout the day on DNR’s nest live cam. Some even perch right in front of the camera.

Barn owls are an endangered species in Indiana, mostly due to habitat loss. The Indiana DNR continues to work with the public to place nest boxes where suitable habitat is available.

These owls typically lay their eggs in March or April, with chicks hatching in April or May.
