(BLOOMINGTON) - AT&T has added a new cell tower to its 4G LTE network in Bloomington to give customers faster, more reliable wireless service. It is located near West 3rd Street and State Road 45.

Their investment will help customers get the most out of their mobile devices. With 4G LTE service, customers will experience better network connectivity while streaming videos, sharing on social media or texting family and friends.

Last year the company upgraded 11 cell towers in Monroe County by adding greater capacity. They also added capacity to the Distributed Antenna System that serves the university football stadium. Capacity upgrades are like adding more lanes to a highway carrying traffic from a customer's device to the cell tower resulting in faster speeds and more reliable service.

"There's no question that fast, reliable mobile internet service is a must when we're talking with companies about growing or locating here," said Lynn Coyne, president of the Bloomington Economic Development Corp. "So, it's great to see this latest investment in our community by AT&T. The company has long been a tremendous supporter of our economic development efforts."

"We want our customers to have a great experience. They'll be able to download, upload, stream and play games faster than ever before on our 4G LTE network-- which is the nation's best data network **," said Bill Soards, president of AT&T Indiana. "We're always working to provide better coverage. And we're investing in our wireless network to accomplish that."

AT&T has invested nearly $1.7 billion in its wireless and wireline networks in Indiana between 2014 through 2016. This drives upgrades to reliability, coverage, speed and performance for residents and business customers.

"We know how important it is for our customers to stay connected. This helps Indiana residents get the best possible experience over the AT&T network wherever they live, work and play."

"We are increasing network speeds and capacity, as we continue to expand the availability and capacity of our network using the latest technology."
