Medora Couple Injured In Crash On US 50 East

Last updated on Thursday, June 29, 2017

(BEDFORD) - A Medora couple was injured in a crash on US 50 East near Stove Road Wednesday morning.

According to a Lawrence County Police report, 61-year-old Phillip Meade was traveling west on US 50 East at Stove Road and told police he was cresting a hill and found a full size pickup truck traveling around 5 miles per hour. Meade told police he swerved his 2001 BMW 750IL to avoid a collision with the pickup.

That caused Mead's car to run off the south side of the highway. The car struck a tree with the left rear corner panel. Police say, the front of the vehicle struck an embankment of rocks, flipped around and struck some trees with the right side of the car.

Mead told police the driver of the pickup truck stopped but then left the scene.

Phillip Meade complained of back pain and his female passenger, 56-year-old Jerry Meade, complained of head pain following the incident.
