Last updated on Wednesday, June 7, 2017

(BEDFORD) - A Bedford woman was arrested on drug charges after Bedford Police found her passed out at the gas pumps at Dairy Land on Tuesday.

Bedford Police received a 911 call from an employee at the Dairy Land at 7:49 a.m.

According to Bedford Police Chief Dennis Parsley, the employees at Dairy Land had dealt with 33-year-old Amanda York for more than an hour.

"She was being a handful," Chief Parsley says. "She was attempting to get gas and had pulled her vehicle on the wrong side of the gas pumps. She finally got pulled up to the pumps and then got back into her vehicle and fell asleep. The employee went out and woke her and again she got back into the vehicle and fell asleep and that is when the employee called 911."

When police arrived they found York asleep behind the wheel.

"They attempted to wake her but couldn't," Chief Parsley added. "They finally managed to get in the vehicle through the passenger door and woke her."

That is when officers determined York was intoxicated on a controlled substance.

She was arrested for public intoxication.

Officer then inventoried her vehicle before having it towed and found several different kinds of prescription drugs that she did not have a prescription for.

York was then charged with possession of Schedule III and Schedule IV controlled substance and maintaining a common nuisance.
