(WASHINGTON) - Washington High School Assistant Principal Troy Zollar is facing charges of battery resulting in bodily injury and criminal trespass, both Class A misdemeanor charges.

The Daviess County Prosecutor's Office filed charges against 43-year-old Troy Zollar of Washington after police say he intentionally touched Heather Gee in a rude and insolent and angry manner by the waist resulting in her injury.

The criminal trespass charge claims that during the same incident Zollar refused to leave the property of Gee.

According to a probable cause affidavit, police were called to Gee's home on West Highland Avenue on March 17th.

Gee told police, she was at her home with her husband and family friends when Zollar came to the home and asked if they could talk inside.

Gee claims Zoller wanted to talk about prior issues and she had asked him to leave.

Zollar allegedly told Gee he didn't have to leave and that is when Gee stood up and attempted to open the door to the garage and Zollar allegedly grabbed her by the waist leaving red marks. He was told again to leave but refused.

Police say Zollar gave a different version of what happened that day saying he had asked Gee if she could talk to him in the kitchen. He says Gee began yelling at him and followed him to the door that exited to the garage and that Gee's parents and husband were holding her back.

Zollar is being represented by Attorney Brandon Smith. He waived his initial hearing and entered a not guilty plea and requested a jury trial.

Zollar told The Washington Times Herald the accusations are false, but couldn't say anything else about the case.

If found guilty, he could face a maximum penalty of one year in jail and a $5,000 fine on each count.

The school district has not released a statement on the arrest.
