(LOOGOOTEE) - Police arrested two women after they discovered drug activity at the Eldorado Motel in Loogootee.

At approximately 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Martin County Sheriff's Office Sergeant Keith Keller was following up an investigation that he and Loogootee Police Department Captain Jason Hennette began last Monday at the motel.

At approximately 12:55 p.m., Sergeant Keller saw two females in two separate vehicles leave the Eldorado Motel and turned south on JFK Avenue.

Sergeant Keller followed a red Monte Carlo. After committing two traffic violations he stopped the the vehicle.

The driver was identified as 32-year-old Erin L. Baker of Odon.

A Martin County Sheriff's Office K9 Officer was contacted for assistance. A short time later, other deputies arrived to assist along with the K9 Virka, who conducted a free air sniff around the Monte Carlo.

The police dog alerted officers to possible drugs at the driver's door. A search of the vehicle did not turn up any illegal substances.

During the search of the vehicle, an employee of the Eldorado called the Martin County Sheriff's Office and advised that a female carried a trash bag to the dumpster before the two vehicles left.

Deputies went to the Eldorado and found the trash bag that contained a styrofoam food container containing one syringe and a two-liter bottle of Wild Cherry Pepsi containing two syringes. All of the syringes tested positive for meth.

Martin County Sheriff's Office Captain Dant and Loogootee Police Chief Kelly Rayhill were able to stop the second vehicle, a black Toyota car.

The driver was identified as 24-year-old Brittany N. Andi of Washington.

Loogootee Police Department K9 Roxy conducted a free air sniff around the Toyota and alerted police to possible drugs inside the car. The search of this vehicle did not turn up any illegal substances.

Both Baker and Andi were transported to Daviess Community Hospital for implied consent testing for operating a vehicle while intoxicated.

Baker and Andi were then taken to the Martin County Security Center on the following charges: possession of meth - Level 6 Felony; possession of a hypodermic syringe - Level 6 Felony; operating a vehicle while intoxicated - Class C Misdemeanor

Baker was also charged with maintaining a common nuisance, a Level 6 Felony and Andi was charged with visiting a common nuisance, a Level 6 felony.

Both women are being held without bond.
