Stalker Students Celebrate EMS Week With AMR Dunn Ambulance And StatFlight

Last updated on Friday, May 19, 2017

(BEDFORD) - EMS Week is May 21-27 and the students at Stalker Elementary School will get a first-hand look at how emergency crews work to save lives.

On Monday, a 9 a.m. both AMR ambulance crews and St. Vincent StatFlight will be at the school visiting each class room.

"Students and staff will get to see and learn how we operate," says AMR Paramedic James Howell. "StatFlight will be landing at the school at 9 a.m."

These highly skilled men and women are often the best part of someone's worst day. StatFlight is a flying ER, they respond to the scene of a medical emergency and transport patients between medical facilities.

The day was organized after Howell, who son Zeke attends Stalker, and Principal Brian Perry began discussing bringing the medical units to the school.

This year EMS week is May 21-27, with the theme: "Always in Service"

EMS professionals provide service and compassion to their communities every minute of every day, and that's what this year's theme pays tribute to.

EMS week is part of the ongoing annual campaign - EMS Strong - presented by the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) in partnership with the National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians (NAEMT).

Together, NAEMT and ACEP are working to ensure that the important contributions of EMS practitioners in safeguarding the health, safety and wellbeing of their communities are fully celebrated and recognized.

EMS Week brings together local communities and medical personnel to honor the dedication of those who provide the day-to-day lifesaving services of medicine's "front line."
