School Email Accounts Sending Out Malware-Containing Emails

Last updated on Thursday, May 4, 2017

(UNDATED) - The email accounts of Orleans, Paoli, Mitchell and North Lawrence school systems are sending out malware-containing emails disguised as Google documents.

Google says a phishing email is being sent to people inviting them to view a Google Docs document. Clicking on the invitation takes the recipient to a Google sign-in that actually gives scammers access to your email and contact list.

Officials urge that you should not open the emails or their contents if they look suspicious. If you receive one, you should delete it immediately and report it to Google.

The school systems are aware of the problem and are working on a solution.
