Last updated on Tuesday, May 30, 2017

(ORLEANS) - The Orange County Historical Society and Paoli Friends is promoting a FREE family history program on June 10th.

Robert F. Henderson, President Orange County Historic Society says John Allen, a Quaker genealogist who specializes in Quakers who migrated from North Carolina to Ohio, Indiana and Illinois in the early nineteenth century will be the guest speaker.

"He has extensive knowledge of family trees and connections," Henderson added.

He will be making a special presentation, entitled "From Orange Co., NC to Orange Co., IN...A Quaker Odyssey" at Paoli Friends Meeting on Saturday, June 10 at 7 p.m.

There will be refreshments served following the event.

"When John speaks to people who have compiled family genealogies for years, he knows more off the top of his head about their families than they know," says Henderson.

John Allen was born and raised in Alamance County (formally Orange County) North Carolina and is a retired dairy farmer. He is a birthright and life-long Quaker. He is a direct descendant of Thomas Lindley, the brother of Jonathon Lindley, who arrived in Orange County, Indiana in 1811
