NLCS Wants Parental Input On 2018-2019 School Calendar

Last updated on Monday, May 1, 2017

(BEDFORD) - North Lawrence Community Schools officials are preparing to develop calendar options for the 2018-2019 school year.

But before they consider calendar options, they would like community input about the various components of the school calendar.

"Since the school calendar affects family plans and activities, I would like to obtain their input," says NLCS Superintendent Gary Conner. "The school calendar also provides strategic plans for instruction. The community's input is very important to me."

A survey questionnaire has been placed on the front screen of the home page of the NLCS website at www.nlcs.k12.in.us. The survey will be available through the end of the day on Friday, May 19th.

The survey will only take a few minutes to complete and comments will remain anonymous. Those completing the survey can also leave additional comments at the end of the survey.

"I know this is a very busy time of year for families, but if possible, I would really like to obtain their input," Conner added. "I want the school calendar to be student, parent and staff friendly. I also want it to be learning-based. Since the school calendar influences every family who has students enrolled in our school system, I want to give every family an opportunity to express their thoughts before school personnel develop a school calendar for the 2018-2019 academic year."
