Man Arrested After Police Find Drugs In His Pockets

(MITCHELL) - A Mitchell man was arrested Tuesday after he police found him with drugs at Gasoline Alley in Mitchell.

Mitchell Police arrested 29-year-old David Gaines after they received a call from an employee at 12:55 a.m. reporting that a man was acting suspicious inside the business.

According to a Lawrence County Superior Court II probable cause affidavit, the employee told police that Gaines was bugging customers and trying to bum cigarettes from them.

After receiving consent to search Gaines' pocket, police found a drug pipe and Suboxone which he did not have a prescription for. The drug pipe contained residue that tested positive for meth.

Gaines was arrested on charges of possession of meth, possession of a Schedule III controlled substance and illegal possession of a syringe.
