(HELTONVILLE) - A Bedford man was injured after he fled from a domestic dispute on a motorcycle and collided with a deer early Sunday morning.

According to a Lawrence County Police report, Natalie Todd, the owner of a 2005 Harley Davidson, called police to report that her husband Jarrod Todd had took off on her motorcycle after a domestic altercation at their home on State Road 58 East. She told police he could possibly be headed to the Heltonville area.

Deputies traveled State Road 58 from Bartlettsville Road into Heltonville looking for him. The officer traveled northwest on Diamond toward the intersection of Pleasant Run Road/Gil Gal Road when he noticed scrap and skid marks on the roadway about 1,600 feet southeast of Pleasant Run/ Gil Gal Road.

The deputy found the motorcycle lying in a grassy area along the south side of the roadway. He also found a freshly killed deer on the north side of the roadway perpendicular to the skid marks, making the deputy believe the driver had struck the deer.

The deputy reported after striking the deer the driver lost control of the motorcycle and ran off the south side of the road. The driver then moved the motorcycle to the grassy area in an attempt to conceal the vehicle.

The deputy reported there were footprints visible in the grass where the motorcycle had crashed and then been moved.

Police contacted local hospitals and discovered Jarrod Todd had been to one where he received treatment for minor injuries.

Police say Todd still has not reported being involved in the accident.
