Facade Grants Awarded To Local Business And Building Owners In Orleans

(ORLEANS) - A number of Orleans business and building owners gathered at the Orleans Town Hall Wednesday morning for an important announcement relating to the long awaited Historic Orleans Façade Project.

Orange County Economic Development Partnership (OCEDP) Executive Director Lloyd Arnold announced grant awards to more than 20 local business and building owners that will assist in renovating the historic store fronts and facades in and around historic Congress Square.

Lloyd explained the partnerships involved including the OCEDP, Radius, Town of Orleans and the Orleans Chamber along with the funding particulars and contractual agreements.

The design concepts for the façade efforts is based on part "The Imagine Orleans" Project the town undertook with Ball State University a few years ago.

"Obviously we are very excited about this opportunity being afforded us and truly feel that this important project will enhance our hometown of Orleans for years to come," Orleans Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Robert F. Henderson says.

Orleans Town Council President Mike Fields echoed those sentiments.

"This really just a beginning for more good things for the town of Orleans," he added.

Lloyd Arnold agreed sayin, "This is just the beginning really and a perfect example of what can happen with a community comes together and everyone is on board with bringing about positive change."
