(BLOOMINGTON) - The Eagle Pointe Golf and Resort was shut down this morning due to violating tax code.

Four uniformed Monroe County Sheriff's deputies assisted the Indiana Department of Revenue with closing the business at 10 a.m., according to a news release from Sheriff Brad Swain.

"Sheriff Swain has recently directed his staff to be more assertive in collecting delinquent sales tax and payroll tax withholding from Monroe County businesses. In the upcoming weeks, the Sheriff has directed his staff to visit these businesses who have failed to respond to previous notices of delinquency, and immediately seize assets to satisfy outstanding tax warrants," according to the release.

An orange "Indiana Department of Revenue WARNING" sign was posted on the door, citing it was in violation of Indiana Code and that the business "is committing a Class A Misdemeanor."

The closure affects the golf course, the pro shop, the bar and dining facilities, according to the release. No customers were in the establishment when deputies and officials with the Indiana Department of Revenue arrived this morning. Golfers weren't permitted on the course after 10 a.m., according to the release.
