City Of Bedford To Host Ribbon Cutting For Restored Downtown Depot

Last updated on Wednesday, May 17, 2017

(BEDFORD) - The City of Bedford and the project team invite the public to attend a ribbon cutting ceremony at 11 a.m. on Thursday to celebrate opening of the Downtown Depot at the corner of 14th and J streets.

Previously called the Southern Indiana Railroad Station, the historic limestone railroad depot was moved four blocks and restored through Indiana's Stellar Communities Program.

Bedford Mayor Shawna Girgis and state project team representatives will be at the ribbon cutting.

The facility will open its doors to the public at 10 a.m., and tours will be available immediately following the ceremony. In addition, a limited number of the original marble or granite floor tiles will be given away.

A community open house will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. The tour and open house promotes the station's new role as a community and tourism information center for Bedford.
