Bedford's Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive Collects More Than 18,690 Pounds Of Food

(BEDFORD) - The Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive resulted in more than 18,690 pounds of food to help feed those in need.

That number was up by 600 pounds from last year.

Jan Allen, a retired carrier who helps orchestrate the project says 13,657 pounds of food were split among Lawrence InterFaith Endeavor, Community Care and God's Place.

Becky's Place women's shelter received the 525 pounds that came in on Monday, and Bertha's Mission was given the 120 pounds received on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Heltonville gave its 780 pounds of donations to the Heltonville Baptist Church, and Mitchell gave its 3,612 pounds to LIFE's pantry in Mitchell.

Orange County mail carriers collected 3,618 pounds of food and increase of 700 pounds from last year.

Paoli and Orleans shipped 2,300 pounds and 1,260 pounds, respectively, to the Paoli Food Pantry and French Lick sent 58 pounds to the Springs Valley Food Pantry.
