(BEDFORD) - Two people were arrested on April 5th at Hoosier Hills Credit Union after they were accused of attempting to cash money orders that didn’t belong to them.
Bedford Police arrested 25-year-old Tieann G. Cain, of 2618 Sanders Lane, on a charge of forgery and theft and 30-year-old Roger King, of Williams on charges of burglary and theft.
On April 5th, Bedford Police received a call from an employee at Hoosier Hills Credit Union saying Cain was attempting to cash two money orders that were not hers.
According to Bedford Police Chief Dennis Parsley, the employee at the credit union called the person who purchased the money orders who told officials she did not know Cain.
"When officers arrived, they asked to speak Ms. Cain in an office along with bank officials," Chief Parsley says. "She was talking on her cell phone to a man who was waiting for her in the parking lot. Officers asked that man to join them in the office."
Cain and King both told police and bank officials they had found the money orders and decided to try and cash them.
"Detectives determined the money orders had been stolen an office area of a home in the 2600 block of Sanders Lane, where the victim lived," Chief Parsley added. "She determined Mr. King, allegedly, entered that office area and took the money orders."
King and Cain were booked into the Lawrence County jail, where they both remain. Cain's bond is set at $7,500 surety, or $755 cash. King's bond is set at $20,000 surety, or $2,005 cash.
