(BEDFORD) - Lawrence County Police arrested a Bedford man on a warrant Sunday after he allegedly injured a woman during a domestic dispute in February.

44-year-old Samuel Huffman is facing felony charges of domestic battery, strangulation, criminal confinement and a misdemeanor charge of interference with the reporting of a crime. He was booked into jail at 6:59 p.m., where he is being held on a $7,500 surety, or $755 cash bond.

According to a Lawrence County Court probable cause affidavit, the woman was in a relationship with Huffman and both were living together in the 4410 block of Leesville Road. On February 23, she called police and talked with Indiana State Police Trooper Gabriel Bault saying Huffman hurt her.

The woman told the two weren't getting along and, earlier that day, Huffman called her because he wanted to see her two children so he asked her to come to his address. They started arguing so she took the children and started to leave. After she got them inside the car, Huffman lunged at her.

She put her foot up to stop Huffman, and he "grabbed her leg, squeezed it, then slammed her down into the driver's seat of the vehicle," the court document reads. The woman started yelling for neighbors to call police. That is when she claims Huffman put his hand over her mouth and pinned her head against the head rest of the driver's seat.

The woman was fighting against him, but was able to start the vehicle, push Huffman away and closed the door. However, Huffman reached through the partially open window, put the car in park and took the keys.

"(The accuser) said then he opened the car door and grabbed her by the throat again, slamming her head back into the head rest again," the affidavit states.

She continued to fight him off and that is when he started choking her. She went limp as she was trying to call 911. She told police, Huffman took her phone. She later convinced Huffman to give her the car keys, and she left.
