Oolitic Town Council To Hold Special Meeting To Address Water And Wastewater Contract

Last updated on Tuesday, April 11, 2017

(OOLITIC) - The Oolitic Town Council will hold a special meeting on Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at Town Hall.

The topics for discussion and decision will include considering a water/wastewater contract management service agreement with Gertzen Water Management Company dba Utility Services.

According to their website, the Utility Services provides certified drinking water and wastewater professionals to meet regulatory compliance demands, serving small communities in the continental United States. They provide cost effective solutions, providing savings, technical expertise and guaranteed regulatory compliance. They also offer full contract service, plant maintenance and repair and project consultation.

Currently the wastewater plant is without an operator.

A street department employee has been overseeing day-to-day operations since the former operator quit. But that employee does not want the job full-time.

The town has received a one-year provisional license for the plant, but the council is seeking to hire a full-time licensed operator, preferably with experience.

Previously, they looked at contracting out the services, but council members couldn't agree on a contract for any of the received bids.
