(BLOOMINGTON) - Bloomington Police have arrested 21-year-old Glenn Ford III of Bloomington on felony charges of attempted murder, aggravated battery and criminal recklessness after he shot a man early Sunday morning.

The shooting happened at 3:50 a.m. in the 100 block of South Kingston Drive according to Bloomington Police Lt. John Kovach.

Police say 24-year-old Corey L. Powell was not seriously injured during the incident.

Several witnesses reported hearing gun shots in the area. Police responded and found several bass 40-caliber shell casings in the roadway, but no victim or suspect was identified.

During their investigation, police were notified by IU Health Bloomington Hospital emergency personnel that they were treating Powell with a gunshot wound to his right thigh and right index finger.

Powell told police that he was driving when he spotted Ford at the Speedway at Kingston and East Third streets. Powell told police he believed Ford had stolen money from him.

Powell pulled into the service station to talk to Ford while he was in passenger seat of another vehicle. The two began talking and that is when the driver of the vehicle pulled away.

Powell followed and both vehicles stopped next to each other in the 100 block of South

Police say Powell again confronted Ford about the stolen money. That is when Ford got out of his car, pulled a gun and started firing.

Powell told police that he slumped down in the seat of his car and drove away to a friend's apartment.

That is when he discovered he had suffered a gunshot wound to his leg and finger. His friend transported him to the hospital where he was treated and released.

Lt. Kovach says police found bullet holes in the passenger side door of Powell's vehicle. They also discovered that a window had been shot out.

Detectives followed up on tips and were able to track Ford to an address on 17th Street in Bloomington were he was arrested and taken into custody.
