(BLOOMINGTON) - Bloomington Police claim Johnny Moore came to Bloomington last August to sell heroin, then ordered two others to commit a robbery that resulted in the shooting death of 26-year-old Brittany Sater.

Moore is on trial this week in Monroe County Circuit Court, charged with burglary and robbery resulting in serious injury. The 31-year-old also is charged with felony murder, since the allegation is that Sater was killed in the commission of the other crimes he is charged with.

After following numerous leads and assistance from other police departments, Bloomington Police arrested Moore, the 42-year-old Billie Jean Edison and 21-year-old Dennis Webb of Indianapolis, who police believe shot 26-year-old Sater.

"It is believed that Edison, Moore, and the third suspect(Webb) attempted to rob Brittany Sater and during the robbery Sater was shot," Bloomington Police Capt. Steve Kellams said at the time of their arrests.

Police were called to a home in the 2300 block of South Rogers Street at 12:50 a.m. Sunday, August 28 after a report a woman had been shot.

When police arrived they found Brittany Sater had suffered a gunshot to the chest. She was transported to IU Health Bloomington Hospital in critical condition. She died at 9:56 a.m.

Sater was able to tell emergency crews while being transported to the hospital that two people, a male and female who she knew, had entered her home and shot her with a shotgun.
