(BLOOMINGTON) - Indiana University police are investigating an alleged rape that happened at the Phi Delta Theta fraternity early Wednesday morning.

Lt. Craig Munroe said there is a possibility that drugs were used because of the memory loss of the victim - "It's suspicious."

A 21-year-old female student told police she had been visiting the fraternity, experienced memory loss and about an hour later regained awareness and discovered injuries consistent with being raped.

"The case is classified as an alleged rape and aggravated assault," Lt. Munroe says.

Police say a sexual assault examination was done at IU Health Bloomington Hospital.

The incident happened sometime between 2:30 a.m. and 3:30 a.m. on Wednesday. It was reported to police at about 9:15 p.m. that night.

Anyone with information about the alleged assault is asked to contact the Indiana University Police Department at (812) 855-4111.
