Last updated on Tuesday, April 11, 2017

(BEDFORD) - A homeless man was arrested after police found him intoxicated.

According to Chief Dennis Parsley, officers were called to the 2700 block of Mitchell Road around 6:28 p.m. on Saturday after a motorist reported a man staggering in the roadway.

Officers responded to the area and found 38-year-old Rhett Lewis in the 2729 block of Mitchell Road sitting in the passenger seat of a vehicle.

Police couldn't find the owner of the vehicle.

"We believe he picked a random vehicle to just sit in," Chief Parsley says.

Lewis was arrested on a charge of public intoxication.
