Last updated on Thursday, April 6, 2017

(GREENE CO.) - Greene County law enforcement officers have added a splash of teal to their uniforms and cruisers to spark conversations about Sexual Assault Awareness Month and let the community know they support victims and survivors.

Greene County Prosecutor's Office Victim's Advocate Vickie Aydt says this is one of several projects that the Prosecutor's Office is facilitating to discuss the issue of sexual assault. Greene County Prosecutor Jarrod Holtsclaw reported that on average 1 in 5 women and 1 in 71 men are victims of sexual assault.

The Bloomfield Police Department and Greene County Sheriff's Department have placed teal ribbons on their police cruisers. Jasonville, Linton and Worthington Police Departments, as well as Greene County General Hospital security officers are wearing teal stripes on their badges.
